Abstract
A new approach for LQ optimal control of SISO discrete linear systems is presented. We solve a constrained Wiener-Hopf problem, stated in the time domain, where the constraints originate from the structure at infinity of the plant transfer function. These are consequences due to the requirement for properness of the compensator transfer function. Plants are assumed to be minimum-phase.
