Abstract
This paper discusses implementation aspects of a chip-rate linear minimum mean square (MMSE) equaliser in a 3GPP HSDPA user equipment receiver for single channel and transmit diversity. We consider both a minimum mean square error block linear (MMSE-BL) and a normalized least mean squares (NLMS) equaliser. The paper identifies critical design issues and provides quantitative results on the various trade offs related to the choice of the equaliser parameters. The collected data show a significant performance gain over the conventional rake receiver.
