Abstract :
In this paper, we propose two Bluetooth MAC scheduling schemes which can support more than 7 nodes simultaneously. One is the MARS (multiple active round scheduling) scheme which allows only one time slot to each node every round in a frame, and the other is the MASS (multiple adaptive slot scheduling) scheme which allocates multiple time slots according to the amount of backlogged packets in the queue of a sensor node. This feature makes it possible for a Bluetooth system to serve efficiently various wireless sensor network applications with many advantages. The proposed schemes are based on the sniff mode that can reduce power consumption of the sensor nodes. And these also can be operated using the park mode to increase the number of nodes to access. We present the performance comparison of the proposed schemes with the conventional Bluetooth system in terms of energy efficiency, service delay, and throughput, etc. by computer simulations.
