  • Abstract
Considering that the maximum downlink transmission power of a shared link is invariant as compared to the variations in the effective data rate on the radio link, the paper proposes a power-based link-sharing structure to allow different classes to share the transmission power on a downlink in a controlled fashion in a mobile environment. Since, in a mobile environment, to add or to drop a connection consumes or releases a certain amount of transmission power, such a discrete power-controlled characteristic makes the conventional CBQ (class-based queuing) based link-sharing structure no longer feasible. The paper aims to translate the occupancy percentages of the classes shown in the CBQ-based link-sharing structure to the estimated number of connections (integer-valued) and the allocated transmission power (in dBm) for these classes. Result shows that this translation may be one-to-many based on different demands of services. The paper also proposes a CBQ-based load control mechanism to manage the ´excess´ power allocation problem effectively and to solve the ´overload´ conditions.
