Abstract :
The code grouping multiple access (CGMA) protocol partitions mobiles into virtual code groups to enhance channel utilization for multimedia traffic in a TDD-WCDMA environment. It guarantees the prompt delivery of real-time traffic with fair packet drop across active mobiles. Also, delays are distributed fairly among mobiles for video traffic handling. When it comes to the support of data traffic, fair bandwidth allocation are guaranteed [(JianXian Mei and K.S. Chung, 2002), (JianXian Mei and K.S. Chung, 2002)]. In this paper, the performance of CGMA for real time traffic handling is analyzed through EPA. The packet drop probability for CGMA has been derived along with the system equilibrium function. It is shown that the EPA could provide a quick estimation of the protocol performance in comparison to computer simulation. Furthermore, the protocol stability is evaluated and shown that the system is stable for the guaranteed 1 % packet drop rate.
