Abstract :
With the increased demand for wireless personal communication networks (PCN), the limited radio resource becomes much more valuable. In this paper, several novel adaptive channel allocation schemes using the genetic algorithm (GA) are proposed which are able to achieve efficient utilization of radio channels with a simultaneous increase of traffic capacity. The GA approach has been developed in order to find the optimal channel allocation and reservation in terms of grade of service (GoS) for a given period of time. The proposed GA based schemes are shown to have much more adaptability to the traffic load than the conventional fixed allocation scheme, and outperforms the other heuristic methods such as tabu search and simulated annealing.
