Abstract :
A motion adaptive and the edge-based deinterlacing algorithm is proposed in this paper. Pixels in a field are divided into two regions: static region and moving region. Inter-field interpolation is performed on the static region; intra-field edge based deinterlacing methods are used on the moving region. To estimate the correct interpolation orientation, edge detection is performed on the moving region pixels. The moving region is further classified into four areas that are subjected to different appropriate interpolation methods with quarter-pel accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed technique can produce high quality video, and the computational complexity is acceptable for consumer electronic applications
