Abstract :
Remote control and remote maintenance for distributed technical processes, particularly for autoarchically automated processes, are becoming increasingly important in automation. Users of different backgrounds with heterogeneous software and hardware platforms gather information on remote control and remote maintenance systems to meet their specific demands which makes it necessary to provide for free data exchange. State of the art in remote control and remote maintenance are proprietary systems preventing the required information from passing system boundaries. It is true that in years, the Internet and its related technologies had a strong impact on system designs, but did not completely eliminate restrictions on data exchange. Middleware covering the requirements for this specific application could solve this problem. This paper explains the core of this middleware, the automatic control markup language (AConML), which is based on an information model. In addition, the models and protocols enabling data exchange are presented
