Abstract :
This paper considers single-input multioutput (SIMO) block fading channels. Several upper and lower bounds on the achievable frame error probabilities (FEPs), with continuous as well as finite input alphabets, are derived. Based on these bounds, we obtain achievability and converse results which connect the achievable FEPs to the respective outage probabilities. Moreover, these bounds can be leveraged to obtain bounds on the FEPs of some multiinput multioutput (MIMO) space-time transceiver architectures such as BLAST and those with orthogonal designs as inner codes.
