Abstract
A method for using the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and discrete sine transform (DST) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless transmission methods is described. These transforms satisfy the cyclic convolution properties of the normally used discrete Fourier transform (DFT) when they are used with a symmetric extension. Taking advantage of properties of the DCT and DST, an interspersed transmission method is proposed. This method can lead to highly spectrally efficient OFDM when compared to the DFT.
