Abstract
This paper reviews an ongoing debate about the nature of rationality. Contributions from both decision theorists as well as machine learning researchers are considered. New contributions to a standard judgment problem "the city inference problem" are presented. "Fast and frugal" algorithms, and their potential contributions to adaptive policymaking, are reviewed.
