Abstract :
High integration and low-power consumption are essential for RF-ICs to realize low-cost, small, and long talk-time mobile phones. This paper will show our proposal for achieving low-power receiver. The proposed technique is based on the adaptive technique. The proposed technique was applied to a direct-conversion receiver RF-IC for GSM900 mobiles. Assuming a typical probability distribution of the wanted signal level, the mean current consumption of the RF-IC is reduced by 28.5 % compared to the case when only normal mode is used.
