Abstract
The services for the ubiquitous information society are expected to act ambient-aware and personalized. In this way, the services realize an adaptable behavior, which is esteemed by end-users. However, the degree of the adaptation will remain limited if traditional software design methods are applied solely. New design paradigms, such as platforms based on the cooperating objects approach, will enable seamless environments for computing, communication, and service delivery. These open, distributed, and scalable platforms will support the realization of evolvable services based on arbitrary combinations of cooperative objects. This paper introduces a system, which deploys the cooperating object technology and which supports the realization of evolvable services.
