Abstract
Generally, a mobile communication network consists of the wired network connecting the base stations in the service area and the wireless network supporting the connections between the base stations and the mobile stations. While the mobile stations move among the cells of the base stations, the location information of the mobile stations should be updated for the continuous service of the mobile stations. In this paper, the optimal distance threshold of the distance-based registration method is obtained when the power-up registration, power-down registration, implicit registration, traffic channel registration and distance-based registration methods are simultaneously employed in CDMA (code division multiple access) cellular communication systems.
