Abstract
This article develops an analytical framework for computing the outage probability of cellular radio systems equipped with an antenna array at the mobile handsets. Specifically, the moment generating function (MGF) of a sum of N uncancelled ("weakest") cochannel interference (CCI) signals from a total of NI independent but nonidentically distributed CCI signals is derived. Selected numerical results that quantify the improvements in spectral efficiency and frequency reuse factor due to suppression of a few dominant CCI signals in an overloaded array scenario are also presented.
