Abstract
In this paper a new way of saving power is expounded. With the different modulation, different energy levels are needed, and then the constant length of packet can be changed to the different length of symbol. Therefore it changes the average length of symbols of all users. At the same time, the variable length of symbols can influence the throughput and delay of the system. But using the CSMA/CD, the influence can be least. In our paper, we found that the power can be saved and the throughput can be improved by increasing the average length of the symbol in some degree.
