Abstract
The enhancement in modelling of transitioning storms will provide useful data for the re-insurance industry. In Nile delta region, the location of the highest speed winds move away from the storm track, out to distances that are far higher than the typical north Indian tropical cyclones. The effect of the effective influx of the sediment load is difficult to quantify in the coastal area of the Nile. The storm system which tracked across the eastern Mediterranean region on 2002 December 20 brought strong winds and heavy rainfall. Flooding was reported in Lebanon, winds gusted to 60 mph after the recurving tropical cyclone transition to a fast moving storm and waves gusted 4 meters height (limited sea room in the Mediterranean Basin).
