Abstract
The authors developed a reduction system for low-frequency ship motions that can effectively reduce the low-frequency motions of a moored ship. This system can reduce the surge motions of the moored ship by preventing the resonance with long-period waves. Computer-controlled hybrid mooring winches make it possible to forcibly change the natural period of the mooring system. In this study, the authors verified the effectivity of the system by the fundamental hydraulic model experiments. They also carried out the trial designs of an actual system in consideration for onsite applications.
