Abstract :
This paper gives an overview of the new Kongsberg Maritime multibeam subbottom profiler SBP 120. A general description of the main features of the instrument is given. The impacts of the multibeam structure of the system are reviewed and analyzed. The performances of the system are theoretically studied and illustrated by experimental results. The potentialities of the system for detecting and localizing buried objects are finally presented.
