Abstract :
Wireless technologies have been adopted as a telecommunications technology infrastructure of choice in many developing countries because of its low implementation costs and a wide variety of applications available. This research attempts to examine the driving factors of wireless technologies in developing countries, using Thailand as an example. For this purpose, technical cost modeling method is used to capture the dynamics and complexity of wireless technology implementation. The proposed analysis provides a framework for understanding the interrelationships between wireless network system elements. The cost models between different wireless technologies is compared in order to create the frameworks to indicate the typical or minimum cost requirements of future wireless services. The outcome yields the possibility of future wireless services that suppliers might be interested in offering. In addition, a preliminary survey on end-user demand was conducted and presented.
