Title :
Conceiving a learning organization model for sustainable development: the IS manager´s perspective based on soft systems methodology
Abstract :
This paper investigates an actionable model for sustainable development in the context of a learning organization. Its aim is to tackle the knowledge challenge faced by an organization in today´s knowledge economy. Specifically, the paper elaborates the cultural issues of three important knowledge processes (the individual, the social, and the organizational), which the design of information systems (IS) must support to help structure and facilitate an organization´s knowledge interconnectivity. The paper also renders a perspective of an organization model through which our IS work could be developed from the practice of soft systems methodology (SSM). The paper concludes by reiterating the challenge any design of the learning organization model for sustainable development must continually tackle; namely, the deliberation of human activity systems through the elaboration of suitable information technologies
