Abstract
This paper describes the design of a tower mounted amplifier (TMA) which is used to improve the cell coverage and capacity in a wireless communication system. This technology and application is basically the extension of the connection between a 3G radio base station and its antenna. From the design results, a 10.5 dB gain TMA is achieved. While a 0 dB gain TMA gave approximately 5.47 km coverage, by adding the 10.5 dB gain TMA the coverage extends to approximately 18.32 km.
