  • Abstract
This research aims to develop high-eficiency Linear RF power amplifier using polar modulation technique. In our proposed architecture, the in-phase and quadraturephase components of baseband signal are transformed into the envelope and phase components in the digital domain. The envelope component is tben delta-sigma modulated to drive a DC-to-DC converter. After filtering, the analog envelope signal has been amplified to modulate the phasemodulated carrier using a saturated power amplifier. The experimental results show that such a polar modulationbased RF power amplifier with proposed envelope processing technique has great potential to deal with highpower amplification of digital modulation carriers with time-varying envelope highly efficiently.
