Abstract
Determining the channel order, which is usually the first step in communication signal processing, is studied in this paper. A novel scheme based on the noise estimation is proposed and it uses exclusively the second-order statistics of the received signal. Simulation demonstrates that it works better than Liavas´ criterion.
