Abstract :
Laser phototherapies using photothermal interaction and photochemical interaction have been used in the treatment of cancers. When immunological stimulation was used in combination with the photophysical interactions, the efficacy, particularly in the treatment of metastatic tumors, can be enhanced significantly. In this study, four different immunoadjuvants were used in combination with the laser photothermal therapy in the treatment mammary tumors in rats. Glycated chitosan, a new immunoadjuvant, was also used in combination with photochemical therapy in the treatment of mammary and lung tumors in mice. Our results showed significant enhancement of laser phototherapy by the immunoadjuvants.
