Abstract
SMOS is the second mission in the Earth Observation Opportunity Programme of ESA. The main objective of the mission is to measure the ocean salinity aud soil moisture of the whole Earth with a revisit time of three years and a pixel resolution of SO x SO Km. The heart of the satellite is a Microwave Radiometer with Apperture Synthesis that constitutes an innovative way to observe the Earth with greater possibilities for the future.
