  • Abstract
    This work presents a fast search algorithm based on the pyramid structure to reduce the computational complexity of fractal encoding. An appropriate topological structure, L2 norm pyramids of image blocks, is employed to exclude a large number of ineligible domain blocks so as to speed up fractal encoding time. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can produce a completely identical fractal code to that of the exhaustive search with much less computational load.
