Abstract
Recent digital media technologies have especially promoted remarkable growth in the home environment that makes new pleasure of audio and visual contents in our life. We can watch and enjoy the various kinds of audio and visual contents in our home. However, for the elderly people, there are some difficulties, based on aging effect of human sensory mechanism, in perceiving these audio and visual contents. In this paper, we describe a psychological evaluation of our compensation technology for the elderly people in these audio and visual contents representation. This psychological evaluation is a sensory measurement and a quantitative assessment of the compensation effect for the declined auditory sensation of the elderly people. This compensation technology is an add-on aid for the conventional TV program, by using our effective signal processing. In this evaluation, we used psychological methodology and conducted subjective assessment on many actual elderly subjects. Evaluation results suggest the effectiveness of our compensation technology and our assessment method.
