Abstract
A 980 nm forward pumped 16 m erbium-doped fibre gain-clamped amplifier in the C-band produced a gain of 26 dB and noise figure below 6 dB. Multiple fibre Bragg gratings are used in the active gain-bandwidth to effect the gain-clamping. The 0.5 dB gain compression points for two simultaneous input signal powers is -15 dBm.
