Abstract :
The design of an active antenna with micromachined parts, suitable for use in a millimeter-wave system, is described. Such antennas can be combined with MEMS-based phase shifters or switches in an array to obtain superior performance. To verify the design, models at 35 and 18.5 GHz on RT-duroid substrate instead of micromachined silicon, are fabricated and the performance is shown to be satisfactory.
