Abstract :
The performance of multilayer 64 channel 3.5 MHz phased array ultrasonic probe using 0.67Pb(Mg13/Nb23/)O3-0.33PbTiO3 single crystal was investigated. Multilayer PMN-PT single crystal with 2 layers shows 5 times larger dielectric constant and slightly higher k33´ than single layer. 2 way sensitivity of the multilayer phased array is about 4 dB higher than that of single layer phased array. The -6 dB bandwidth of multilayer phased array is about 100% and this is similar to that of single layer phased array. Sensitivity variation between single and multilayer phased array is similar and the deviation is almost same as the PZT ceramic phased array.
