Abstract :
A YAG laser beam was divided by a beam-splitter into two beams which were focused on a thin aluminum plate by two lenticular lenses to generate a pair of Lamb waves. Lamb waves were generated by grating-like thermoelastic line sources, the distance, d, of which was adjusted such that only limited Lamb modes could be generated. The generated counter-propagating Lamb wave pair (CLWP) was detected by both PZT and broadband air-coupled transducers. The application of the CLWP scheme to nondestructive evaluation (NDE) was investigated using several configurations.
