Abstract :
This paper aims to construct an empirical model to relate total electron content (TEC) to ionospheric critical frequency (foF2). The TEC was obtained by using GPS data from a dense GPS network, GEONET, and the foF2 was from ionosonde observations in Japan. The morphology of TEC and foF2 are analyzed and compared for each month. Empirical coefficients are fitted for the variation of the ratio of TEC to the square of foF2 (TEC/(foF2)2). So the distribution of TEC can be obtained by substituting the foF2 into the model.
