Abstract
Recent satellite observations have revealed monopolar and bipolar pulses in the auroral region. The authors have proposed dromions as a possible paradigmatic model for such highly localized multidimensional structures. It is shown that the nonlinear evolution of a two dimensional lower hybrid wave may be governed by the coupled Davey-Stewartson 1 (DS-1) type of equations which are known to admit dromion solutions for some appropriate choice of parameters. A possible lower hybrid dromion solution is compared with previous results of electron acoustic dromions and contemporary space observations.
