  • Abstract
Service providers can improve their provision using semantics and complex system analysis to provide customers ad hoc applications where there is no prior knowledge of which customer ad hoc application components to consider. This work aims to provide a new methodology for building a general framework for ad hoc applications over large networks using semantics and complex systems analysis. The first part develops the reasons why semantics helps describing ad hoc applications and how ontologies systematize application knowledge in a graph. The second part deals with managing the amount of information which can be huge in case the graph could be a large network. For such purpose, complex systems analysis and statistical analysis are used to extract properties from the graph. It allows discovering new knowledge because some structures appear in the graph as clustering, connections degree and "small world". For instance, this information shows which application components are highly and poorly connected and could be translated to vulnerability to attacks. Finally, an example wraps up the paper and summarizes the methodology.
