  • Abstract
An exact reverse-link Eb/I0 expression for a multi-cell CDMA generalized distributed antenna system (GDAS) is derived, and the reverse-link outage capacity of various antenna structures is investigated by taking the power control dynamic range into account. Our investigation shows that distributed antenna structures are capacity-enhanced and power-saved in contrast to traditional centralized antenna structures. Furthermore, GDAS is a cost-effective solution compared with DWCS, which is proposed recently as a promising antenna architecture. It is also shown that, adding more antennas to a "virtual cell" can yield further capacity and power gains for distributed antenna structures. However, the returns diminish gradually and tend to be convergent finally.
