Abstract
In this paper, a new type of filter called mixed H/sub 2//H/sub /spl infin// FIR filter is proposed for discrete-time state space signal models. To obtain the mixed H/sub 2//H/sub /spl infin// FIR filter, linearity, quasi-deadbeat property, FIR structure, and independence of the initial state information are required in addition to the performance criteria in both H/sub 2/ and H/sub /spl infin// sense. It is shown that H/sub 2/, H/sub /spl infin// and mixed H/sub 2//H/sub /spl infin// FIR filter design problems can be converted into convex programming problems written in terms of linear matrix inequalities with a linear equality constraint. Through simulation studies, it is illustrated that the proposed FIR filter is more robust against uncertainties and faster in convergence than the conventional IIR filters.
