Abstract :
This paper presents a preliminary work on development of a visual inspection system for golf logos. A measure is proposed to detect degradation of logo contour with extrusion and/or intrusion. Mathematic framework of the proposed degradation measure is explained in detail. Hierarchical convexity rule and normalized feature vector are employed to deal with the correspondence problem. Integration of both approaches is proposed to determine the characteristic vertices between sample and test logo contours. A new concept of expansion of contour sub-chains by interpolation is introduced. A masking window is also introduced to enforce the robustness of the proposed measure against disturbances. Lots of experimental and simulation examples have been conducted to support the adequacy of the proposed measure, but only a typical example is presented for demonstration.
