  • Abstract
A fully decentralized autonomous power module (FDAM), which is a subsystem with the power devices integrated with drive, protection and microcontroller, is proposed in this paper. It is convenient to apply the digital control to the power converters constructed by FDAM because of the integrated microcontroller. By using this module, some kinds of power converters can be easily constructed without any additional parts. Simultaneously, it is suitable to use the FDAM in the applications requiring complex and advanced control schemes. In this paper, the structure of the FDAM is introduced and the phase-decoupled control methods suitable for FDAM converters are discussed. The laboratory prototype of the FDAM is implemented with discrete components and general-purpose digital signal processor (DSP). Its advantages as well as the validity of the control methods are verified through experiments.
