Abstract :
An optical receiver with inductor-load regulated cascaded (L-RGC) amplifier for wireless infrared communication is designed using a 0.25μm CMOS process. The receiver bandwidth is extended and the dynamic range is enhanced using inductor load regulated cascade amplifier. A hysteresis amplifier is applied to obtain good capability of input noise rejection. The active inductor loads can replace the passive inductor loads for silicon area reduction. The optical receiver achieves a 500MHz maximum data rule. It performs 86dB dynamic range at 100MHz with 5pF photodiode capacitance.
