Abstract :
This paper describes a single chip RF transceiver design for PHS (Xiao-Ling-Tong) phone. A single down conversion with low IF structure is used to be compatible with the existing base band device interface. There is no SAW filter requirement for receiver path. The direct up-conversion architecture is adopted for transmitter path. 20 dBm linear power amplifier is also integrated into the single chip transceiver. A 3800 MHz VCO is designed to generate LO signal for receive and transmit. The on-chip varactors and inductors were used in the VCO design. The VCO can be calibrated automatically to cover process, temperature, and supply variations.
