  • Abstract
Defuzzification is understood as a process through a precise numerical value. It is calculated from the conclusion of a fuzzy model. This motivates the development of a lot of methods, each one consideres it as a particular process. Then, the goal of this paper is in propose a general meaning for the defuzzitication, where the output can be a value from a numerical domain, but it can also be a value from other kind of domains such as linguistic, symbolic or qualitative. In this general context, defuzzification is defined as the method that allows calculating a single value or a set from a particular domain; as if it were a problem of information transformation from a fuzzy to a non-fuzzy domain, combined with a decision process. Defuzzification is then defined as the mathematical process by which a value, with or without uncertainty, from a particular and non-fuzzy space, is associated with a fuzzy value given by a fuzzy model as result of reasoning.
