Abstract :
The latest commercial computing performance has been unavailable to the space community because of radiation reliability issues and the time and resources required to bring a radiation hardened version to market. This paper discusses computing performance, radiation mitigation, characterization and testing of a single board computer for space based on the latest IBM 750FX SO1 processor. The architecture, design, error mitigation techniques and radiation testing and evaluation of the design´s performance are presented.
