Abstract :
In this paper a new algorithm so-called SPBC (subband-partitioning block coding) is presented based on set partitioning scheme, the new method sets all image transform coefficients as partitioning set in initialization and uses single quadtree partitioning scheme instead of set partitioning and octave band partitioning of SPECK algorithm. Experiment results show that the SPBC algorithm reduces the coding complexity. The lossless compression performance is comparable to JPEG-LS and SPIHT. The lossy PSNR performance is quite competitive with the SPIHT and SPECK algorithm using the Daubechies 9/7.
