  • Abstract
    In this paper, a new type planar sensor, interdigital type is investigated and compared with meander and mesh types. A controlled variable frequency power supply has been designed and developed for the supply of excitation voltage. The frequency can be controllable from a couple of 100 kHz to 1 GHz. The total frequency range has been obtained by switching different VCO´s of different frequency ranges. Tuning voltage versus operating frequency plot reveals a linear relationship which shows the ideal characteristics. Also, the output of the power amplifier is connected to all sensors and the effect of different materials in close proximity of sensors are observed. Results show that both meander and mesh type sensors respond very well to conducting and magnetic materials but not so well to dielectric materials. On the other hand the interdigital sensor responds well to dielectric materials.
