Abstract :
A single chip piezoelectric double actuator driver is presented. It is able to drive up to 24 nF of capacitive load with up to 100 mA of current and 80 V of output swing. It offers both voltage-control and charge-control configurations to minimize piezoelectric ceramic hysteresis effects. The chip can be supplied from 5 to 12 V and generates internally +-40V or 0-80V by means of a quasi-resonant boost converter designed to reduce high dV/dt noise problems. A -2.5 V analog level shifter is included so that the chip can be driven with a DAC output spanning from 0 to 5V of dynamic range, thus maintaining the symmetry to ground.
