Abstract :
Four complete tape read/write channels are implemented on a single chip with total data rate of 132 Mb/s (164 Ms/s), and all circuitry tracks the data rate from the tape over a 3:1 range. Wholly digital peak detectors, channel calibration, thermal asperity detectors and continuous offset cancellation are integrated. The 70 mm20.7 µm BiCMOS IC dissipates 2.4W at maximum data rate and 5V.
