Abstract :
A 64×64 Analog Programmable Array Processor chip in 0.5µm CMOS technology is presented. The new prototype has been designed to process and provide either analog (8bits greyscale) or binary (black and white) images. Analog and digital I/O rates are 1MHz and 10MHz respectively. Accuracy in the generation of voltage weight signals is slightly below 8bits (7.6 bits). The chip has been demonstrated to be able to perform satisfactory a large variety of image processing tasks. Experimental results of two brand new features, namely analog edge extraction and movement detection in greyscale images, are provided in this paper.
