Abstract :
A 2nd-order multibit BandPass ΣΔ Modulator (BPΣΔM) to be used for 10.7MHz IF sampling of the AM/FM broadcasting radio signal is presented. The modulator is realized with SC technique and it is sampled at 37.05MHz. The accuracy of the in-band noise shaping is ensured with two self-calibrating control systems. In a 0.18µm CMOS technology the device die size is 1mm2and the power consumption is 75mW. The modulator features 76dB dynamic range and 67dB peak-SNR within a 200kHz bandwidth (FM bandwidth).
