Abstract :
The design environment together with measurement and simulation results are presented for a two stage medium power amplifier (MPA) module realised in digital 0.35 µm CMOS technology. The fully integrated MPA consumes only 1 mm2chip area and is intended for 2.4 GHz ISM-Band transceiver applications. It achieves up to 24 dB small signal gain, 19 dBm output power and 27% power added efficiency (PAE). These excellent results could be achieved using scalable lumped element models optimising capacitive substrate coupling and inductive coupling effects for best circuit performance.
